Patanjali ads unsubstantiated,misleading ASCI

"It take 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it .if you think about that, then you will do thing differently."(Warren Buffet)

Patanjali a famous and rapid growing FMCG company established in 2006 by yog Guru Baba Ram Dev along with BalKrishna with the objective of establishing science of Ayurveda in accordance and Co ordinance with the latest technology and ancient Wisdom. It is Valued at RS 3000 crore . And some products revenue worth RS 5 000 crore for fiscal 2015-16. Patanjali declared its annual turnover of the year 2016-17 is to be estimated RS 10,216 crore. It is listed 13th in the list of the most trusted brand.Advertising watchdog ASCI has once again pulled up yoga guru Baba Ram Dev-promoted Patanjali Ayurved for running "misleading" ad campaigns that disparages competitors' products. The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) said that Patanjali Ayurved "unfairly denigrates" products of its rivals in the advertisements.

1.The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) found that Patanjali's claim for its 'Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil' that rival makers are selling mustard oil "adulterated with oil made by solvent extraction process with neurotoxin containing Hexane", was not substantiated.
2."Also, the claim is grossly misleading by exaggeration," the ad regulator said in its list for the month of April, 2016, in which it upheld 67 complaints against several companies.
3. Besides, Patanjali also failed to substantiate its claims for Patanjali Fruit Juice, where it had claimed rival brands as "expensive juices containing less pulp".
According to the regulator, the ad was accompanied by reference to the prices of other branded juices and "by implication unfairly denigrates the entire class/category of fruit juices".4. Similarly, it also failed to substantiate its claims in the ad for cattle feed 'Patanjali Dugdhamrut' as "other companies mix 3 to 4 per cent urea and other non-edible things in their cattle feed."
5. ASCI also held Patanjali Ayurveda’s ads for toothpaste 'Patanjali Dant Kant' as misleading as it did not substantiate claims of it being effective against pyorrhea, swelling and bleeding of gums, yellowing of teeth, sensitivity and bad breath and provides a natural shield against germs.:-Reference(Economic Times)When contacted, a Patanjali Ayurveda spokesperson said the company is looking into the details and exploring legal options in this matter.
"We are looking into the details and are in talks with the legal department," he said.
In May this year, ASCI had rapped Patanjali Ayurveda for "false and misleading" claims in its various advertisements, including its hair oil and washing powder brands.Reference (economic times)Have you ever saw, any celebrity in of Advertisement of Patanjali rather than  yog guru Baba Ramdev, No because Baba Ramdev is a big celebrity in India itself, his company dosen’t need any other person for promotion. His entry in the field of business was quit good and interesting. He first came in trend by the name of yog guru and win sympathy of people no doubt he is a great yog guru because of his whole world is celebrating international yoga day on 21 June every year. The time when people start believing on him, he played a master card, setup the FMCG brand on the name of Ayurveda .As he was a yog guru, and that is the reason why people started believing on his brand and in starting his business was running so well as expected and this company is considered as the fastest growing company with trust of people India and is listed in the most trusted brand at 13th rank. But the above reports shows the reality of Patanjali. What was shown in advertisement is not real in reality. This brand plays with the emotion of the consumers and taking advantage of your popularity was not ethically right
Rather than this brand takes advantage of Hinduism for the promoting their brand as many of its products contains “urine of cow” as we know that why this company has done this he want to win the sympathy of Hindu community which was not at all ethical. For any brand or company each and every consumers are same rather than caste, religion or Nationality.
